A message from the board .... We would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you and your families to Visintainer Middle School. As Visintainer PTO board members, it is among our responsibilities to talk with you about our organization, enroll you as a member, and very importantly, encourage you to get involved in your school.
Our primary objective as a PTO is to continue to provide our students with the wonderful curriculum based assemblies, family events, popcorn days, reality store, field day and other hands-on, interactive experiences and presentations. To meet this important objective, we must fundraise. Though it may not be our favorite responsibility, it is a necessary one.
It’s easy to become a member. Any parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle or anyone who has a vested interest in our students can be a member. Please fill out the PTO membership sign up sheet, indicate what events/activities interest you, and we’ll contact you to discuss it further. Volunteering doesn’t have to mean a huge time commitment. We understand it is increasingly more difficult to find time to give, but please consider volunteering whatever your time schedule allows, we have need of you. We even have tasks that can be performed in the evenings, during the day or that don’t even involve coming to the school at all.
We’re about a community working together toward a common goal. That goal, simply stated, is creating a better school and a better educational experience for our children. We look forward to meeting you!
On behalf of the Visintainer PTO, we would like to extend a warm welcome and best wishes for a successful school year! Please contact any of us with questions or comments.
Sincerely,
The Visintainer Executive Board Members
Kathy Cipalla & Judy Oriold - Co-president

DINING TO DONATE
JANUARY 18, 2012
Hello Viz Parents!
Applebee's is giving Visintainer a chance to raise some extra funds by allowing us to participate in their Dining to Donate program.
It is easy to participate, simply present the flyer to your server click here for flyer and 15% of the check will be sent back to Viz so we can give the students some extras (like better OAA testing treats).
Each flyer has 2 dining certificates so there is an extra if you want to hand it out to your neighbor.
Where: Applebee's 1421 Town Center Blvd (the Giant Eagle/Home Depot shopping center)
Date: Wednesday - January 18th
Time: From 11 am - 9 pm
Please note that we can't stand out in front of Applebee's and hand these out, you need to bring them with you to the restaurant. Please contact Judy Oriold if you have any questions.
Hope to see many of you there!

EARN MONEY TOWARDS YOUR WASHINGTON D.C. TRIP
Market Day Fundraiser:
Starts Feb. 13
Ends: Feb. 24th
Goal: The reason for this fundraiser is to help raise student profits for their Washington D.C. field trip. A percentage of each student's individual sales will go into their DC account. The cost of the trip will be close to $400 so having some proceeds go to help defray the cost is a BIG benefit the parents. Even 6th and 7th graders who still have a while to go until their DC trip are eligible - so why not start the savings early??
8th grade: 40% of their individual sales
7th grade: 20% of their individual sales
6th grade: 20% of their individual sales
Incentive: In addition to the percentage of student profits for the DC trip - The top seller in each grade will receive a $25 gift card. Plus Market Day has its own gift incentive program.
